The Colne Valley Regional Park is the first proper taste of countryside immediately to the west of London, a patchwork of rivers, lakes and waterways, woodland, meadows and pasture.
Its champion is the Colne Valley Regional Park Trust. We work with 100 member organisations and our managing agents, Groundwork South, to maintain, protect and enhance this precious, wildlife-rich landscape.
It is a period of both growth and challenge for the Colne Valley Regional Park Trust. The staff team has expanded from three to ten working on a range of projects across the park, and our public profile is steadily growing. But the Regional Park’s position right on the edge of the urban fringe of the capital, means it is facing an ever-increasing tide of development pressure that threatens its very existence.
We are looking for new trustees to join our enthusiastic and dedicated team to help us continue our vitally important work.
Our existing trustees are drawn from all walks of life, bringing with them a wealth of experience, both professional and personal.
Here’s a taste of just some of the things our trustees are currently involved in:
- responses to major planning applications and government consultations
- path maintenance and lobbying for improvement,
- communications, campaigns and website blogs
- meetings with MPs and local authority cabinet members
- sound financial management and administration
- management and maintenance of irreplaceable ancient woodlands
- leading walks and giving talks to community groups
- administration of the ‘Friends’ organising fundraising events
As long as a task helps achieve the vision and objectives, we will support trustees to make the most effective use of their skills, experience, contacts and time.
