Owned and maintained by the London Wildlife Trust, Frays Island and Mabey’s meadow are true hidden gems. Situated between two aspects of the River Colne (one where the Frays River meets the River Colne), this woodland offers a quiet escape from the outside world and provides areas that allow visitors to take in the tranquility of the rivers and the reserve.
Frays Island is alive in the Spring and Summer with numerous species of bees, butterflies, and damselflies about. Keep a keen eye out as you may even spot a Kingfisher on your walk!
You can access Frays Island from a footpath off of Wren Dr or through a footpath from Waterford House off of Thorney Mill Road.
