Organised by Woodoaks Farm in The Black Barn, the Heritage and History of Woodoaks Farm with historian Lisbet Sherlock
Farming has taken place at Woodoaks since Saxon times and the land has been in the care of many families over the centuries.
In this talk, Lisbet Sherlock will trace the history of the farm with particular emphasis on the last 100 years when the farm has been in the stewardship of the Findlay family.
The talk will explore the farm’s transformation from a small, mostly organic, rural concern through the tumultuous changes in agricultural processes of the twentieth century. She will look at its transition from a supplier with strong connections to its neighbours to a small producer in an increasingly global supply chain and how Woodoaks, with the help of The Soil Association, is now working to restore nature’s balance, protect the land and reground itself in its local community as the Black Barn Project is brought to life
Cost: £5 (plus booking fee) per adult. Under 18s go FREE.
Wine, nibbles and refreshments available.
