The Grand Union Canal is our local canal constructed in the 1800’s to connect Birmingham with London, passing straight through the middle of the Colne Valley Regional Park. This water course plays an important role for the area providing a home, transportation route as well as a place for recreation however its uses have changed over the years shaping the Colne Valley and its people, join us today to learn how.
As part of the Landscape Partnership scheme we can offer a free workshop exploring the canal network here in the Colne Valley, how it influenced the landscape, industry and communities up to the modern day. This will be delivered by Rickmansworth Waterway Trust with a morning theory zoom session followed by a practical site visit in the afternoon to walk and talk canals.
