How about a greener Christmas this year with well being gifts?
It is sad to think that nearly a third of Christmas presents aren’t used after Christmas day. With people having such hectic schedules and busy lives, sometimes we need that chance to slow down and think about what we really enjoy and will make us happy.
Research shows that experiences provide more lasting happiness than objects and a voucher for a meal, paying for a course or activity, a new hobby experience or an annual subscription to a local venue or conservation group may be a good option to choose this year. If you would like a greener Christmas this year, then why not consider buying quality time together or an outdoor active experience to help improve you or your loved ones well being?
At the Colne Valley Regional Park we have many lovely rural pubs and cafes, selling vouchers and afternoon teas, as well as rural hotels to experience next to countryside venues. There are also many Water Ski and sailing clubs, Denham Aerodrome, golf clubs and outdoor activity centres and museums all able to provide unique experiences or a taste of a new hobby waiting to be ventured into.
How about an annual family pass to the Chiltern Open Air Museum with prices starting at £50 or an experience to the Batchworth Lock canal centre or you could even try a boat trip along the canal? Annual £50 parking ticket for the Buckinghamshire Country Parks (Black Park, Langley Park and Denham Country Park)? We have a big and wide variety of places to go to that will boost your outdoor active well being, as well as places to relax and enjoy quality time together. Please have a look at our new “places to go page” for more ideas on how you can plan ahead to make the most of 2020 https://www.colnevalleypark.org.uk/places-to-go/
Of course Children love something to open and could enjoy gifts that will bring them closer to nature. So how about increasing their Vitamin N (Nature) in 2020 and buying them a kit to make a mini beast hotel or a bird box? They may enjoy a book on mini beasts or a pair of binoculars? For younger toddlers a more practicable gift can be some fun wellies or a good quality all in one outdoor weather proof, so that they can explore the outside and nature whatever the weather.
