Our new Eco Pod has landed!   Clad in local timber harvested from Black Park, it seemlessly fits in offering a new home for local bugs and wildlife.  It has a living roof, bug hotel wall and lots of nooks and crannies for birds and maybe even bats.

We will be selling your traditional favourite ice creams along with a selection of delicious new scoop ice cream.  The kiosk will also be the perfect spot to pick up a tea or coffee close to the playground.

The Eco Pod also offers a community meeting room/teaching room/party hire space right in the heart of the park.  There will also be a wide variety of imaginative craft activities put on by the Visitor Centre throughout the year.

The Pod was made possible through a grant from the Veolia Environmental Traust awarded to Groundwork South who managed the project.  We would like to say a special thank you to volunteer Graham Chesterman who managed the project and Mike Shadbolt for his imaginative design and craftsmanship on the building.

The Groundwork Team organise events all year round that are held at the Visitor Centre. These range from things to occupy the children in the holidays, that take advantage of our setting, to the two Festivals that occur annually, not forgetting our Green and Wild Parties.

But if you would rather do something on your own, for example a Self Guided Walk or a spot of Orienteering, we can advise on that too.

For a calendar of events at the Visitor Centre, see here.
