Short Walks in the Colne Valley Park

1. Heronsgate

2¾ miles - A peaceful country walk away from roads, through farmland and woods.

2. Old Shire Lane

6½ miles - Follow ancient pathways to explore farmland, bluebell woods and the village of West Hyde.

5 Miles (short route 3 ½ Miles) - Through open farmland, beech woodlands and along the River Misbourne.

5. Gerrards Cross

3¾ miles - Varied scenery with a landscape of the old and the new with great views from the sides of the Misbourne Valley.

6. Denham Woodland

5¼ miles - Explore ancient Denham woodlands and the beautiful Misbourne Valley.

7. Rickmansworth

1½ Miles - Round lakes, over rivers, along the canal and beside a stream.

8. Rickmansworth Lakes

3¾ miles (short walk 2¼ Miles) - A peaceful walk around three lakes on what was once a busy gravel extraction site.

9. Harefield and Batchworth Heights

5 miles (short walk 3½ miles) - Encompasses beautiful views and the best of the Colne Valley, passing Rickmansworth Lakes, the Grand Union Canal and surrounding farmland.

10. Mount Pleasant

3¼ miles (short route 2 miles) - Experience a slower pace along historic canals and pleasant lakes with lots of bird life. Fantastic views over the Colne Valley.


11. South Harefield

3¾ miles (Short walk 2¾ Miles) - A walk along beautiful stretches of the Grand Union Canal and through farmland, with some of the best views anywhere in the Colne Valley.


12. Grand Union Canal

4 miles - A peaceful stretch of the Grand Union Canal with views over magnificent lakes with thriving bird life.

2¼ miles - Enjoy a varied patchwork of woodland, heathland and lakeside at Black Park.

15. Langley

4 miles (short route 2½ miles) - Along the canal to quiet country lanes with views across ancient parkland to Langley Mansion.

16. Iver

4½  miles (short route  3¼  miles) - A lovely walk along countryside footpaths, the bank of the River Colne and the Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal.

17. River Colne

4¾ miles - A wonderful alternative to the busy A40 between Uxbridge and West Drayton.

18. Harmondsworth Moor

2¼ miles - Through newly created parkland, with plentiful wildlife and views to Windsor Castle and London.

19. Wraysbury and Ankerwycke

4½ miles - A varied and picturesque walk along the Colne Brook, the magnificent Wraysbury Lakes, the National Trust Ankerwycke Estate and the village of Wraysbury.

20. Staines Moor

3½  miles (short route 2½  miles) - A short walk with views of the Thames, historic Staines and the Church Lammas Lakes.
